Default Cell phone charger?

I have a 2003 Honda Accord that I recently purchased and I am unable to power up my cell phone charger. The light does not go on when I have the car started. The manual states this Accessory Power Socket are for 12 Volt DC accessories. It goes onto say it will not power an automotive type cigarette higher element.

Is there an adapter that I can purchase or am I just stuck with this?

Thanks.

Look for a blown fuse or something. Our '03 has no problem running cellphone chargers. A cig-lighter takes much more power, maybe would blow a fuse if someone tried it.

Or maybe a prior owner took the console apart & some wires are disconnected??

test for voltage at the socket. The power outlet has a 10 amp fuse and if you are getting power (battery voltage if car is off or approximately 14V with car on) then your charger may be bad or the fuse inside blew (you can uscrew the bottom of the charger to replace the fuse in most cases it is 1 amp or so)
