Default 2000 accord coupe v6 turbo?

Just so no one tells me about k or f motors ... i simply have a J30a1 motor in my accord coupe 2000 its a v6 with 145,000 miles automatic stock transmission ( idk what kind) on it currently i added a cold air intake and headers i want to know just wondering can i turbo this motor without blowing it up im not deffinatley doing this im just tossing the idea around

Can i tutbo this motor without any internal work?
Can i fit a turbo , intercooler, piping under my hood( big v6)
How safe would it be?
Will my motor **** the bed just because its old or because the internals are weak?
Will my transmission blow?
Isnt automatic transmission better for turbo anyways?

Please and thank you for your response

Wow, lots of questions which are most likely going to generate some conflicting responses.

My SWAG answers:
  • The motor is most likely strong enough to take a small amount of boost with the right tune; I'm guessing no more than eight pounds or so.
  • The plumbing, while not technically impossible, will require some very creative piping; this won't be cheap.
  • Safe? Not sure what you're asking here.
  • Set up incorrectly, your motor will blow in a few hundred miles; done properly it will most likely last well beyond the 200,000 mile mark.
  • Yes, your transmission will most likely blow in relatively short order.
  • From the drivability perspective, yes, an automatic is slightly better than a stick when it comes to turbocharged motors; this is because you don't lift off the throttle during the shift event. Personally I like turbocharged motors and manual transmissions.
Did I mention this will be a very expensive endeavor?

The Transmission would be my main concern. If I wanted to spend $3k on that car I would do a 6 speed trans swap instead of a turbo. And 3k is a low estimate

Yeah, I'm thinking to breathe on a V6 Accord and to swap the slushbox out for a 6-Speed manual, one would probably need to pony up for somewhere between six and eight thousand; much cheaper to just sell the Accord and buy something which is already fast (preferrably from the factory).

FWIW, I've seen nice condition 540i (automatic, the 6-Speed manuals almost always cost more) models of the 2000 vintage for under ten grand; a car I'd much rather have than a 2000 Accord V6 with an aftermarket turbo treatment.
