Default fuel pressure testing

i want to check my fuel pressure on my 1999 accord type r, but the problem is i cant buy the right gadget anywhere. because honda dont have the common schrader valve, is it ok to cut through the fuel line and install a tee with a schrader type fitting.

thanks

Fuel pressure is rarely a problem. Before going to a lot of trouble, a crude check is to crack the banjo bolt on the fuel rail after turning keyswitch to On (engine off). You should get a significant and strong spray of fuel. If nothing, or just a dribble engine will not run.

While it must be possible to have unacceptably low but postive pressure, I've never seen/read of a definite case.

If you're having performance problems, I would look elsewhere first.

good luck

thanks for that texas, it just seems daft that honda chose not to have the standard fuel pressure schrader valve, life would be simpler. i am thinking of getting a double banjo and fit a schrader valve to test it or even fit a guage. what do you think?
also i read somewhere that we dont really need the fuel pulsation damper, have any thoughts on that.

cheers

Operating w/o a fuel pulsation dampner might cause excess fuel to be delivered, but system would probably compensate. That said, Honda is not prone to add parts that aren't needed, and there is no downside to leaving it in the system that I see.

good luck

I suspect you'll have lot's of problems finding the correct fittings.

good luck
