Hi the year of car is 06.Been into Honda today on diagnostic machine £79.99
Error code 66-1 vsa modulator unit required £1373.65 plus vat plus 2half hours labor.
If i took in for mot tomorrow it would pass with the vsa failure light on. The car drives the same feels the same when breaking. So why such a high price for a part that i dont need for mot (i no its suppose to be a safety measure but come on)
Is there any way i can remove sign on dash cause this is winding me up ie take fuse or bulb out??????

Also does any1 no of any independent who can do this im in York

With this been such a common fault thought maybe i would have get some pointers.
This is what i have dug out

Honda has finally issued the extended warranty for the rubbish VSA modulator
made by the ultra-NOT reliable German manufacturer. Before this TSB was
announced Honda UK as a gesture of goodwill was paying for the parts and
the customer had to pay for the labour.
Finally Honda and German manufacturer have reached a solution to this issue.

TSB Bulletin No SK-07-007-00 dated 01-11-2010
This is only applicable to i-CTDI engines.
Models Affected
ACCORD 4D CN1 05, 06, 07, 08
ACCORD TOURER CN2 05, 06, 07, 08
CIVIC 5D EV1 05
CR-V RD8 05, 06
CR-V I-CTDI RD9 05, 06
Symptom
VSA light on, DTC 66-1 is stored.
Cause
Open circuit in the VSA modulator pressure sensor due to a production fault at the supplier.
Application: Warranty extension +3 years; mileage up to 62,000 miles
Any high mileage car will not be entertained... So anyone now has suddenly seen this issue, please contact your dealer provided you are with the time frame and mileage.

This does not help me as i have 122k on clock so i have been in touch with Honda uk who are dealing with it at the moment. And i have also been in touch with my dealer asking why i was not informed about this when my mileage was under 62k,which was only a year ago,and the car has been serviced six times in between. The dealer said honda told them not to say anything unless approached by it or the light came on. So if you have one of the above cars and under 62k on clock i would get in touch with your dealer even if modulator has not failed because from Jan 2012 this will be part of MOT and you may end up with a £1800 bill

I have the same problem. Thanks for the post rhinogolf...

I have had this checked at the dealer on 60k and they want to charge me 1800 pounds for the module 66-1 error code.

Im gonna contact Honda UK see what they have to say as this is a known issue! But failing that I have this below on how to remove the dash... And I hope I can find the pin in the connector for that light or open it up and disconnect it.

Here is what I have...
Instrument Panel Removal/Installation

  1. Tilt the steering column down.
  2. Remove the screws (B)
    1. Remove the screws (B)
    2. Gently pull out along the bottom to release the clips (C) and hooks (D)
    3. Gently pull out the upper portion of the panel
    4. With auto A/C: Disconnect the in-car temperature sensor connector (E) and the air hose (F)
