01 Accord, 17 inch rims
Hello everybody,
I want to put some black 17 inch rims with a chrome lip on my 2001 silver EX V6 Accord. What I really dont like about my car is how much space is in between the tire and the fenders. I know the best way to solve this would be with a lowering kit, but I dont have the additional 600-700$ to do that right now. So im wondering if by getting new rims and tires will it make the car appear to have less distance between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender?
Thanks for any input

What size do you have now?
If you switch from say 16" to 17", and keep the same outer tread diameter (to maintain speedometer & odometer), then the gap will appear larger. That's a kind of optical illusion because you judge the gap in comparison to the hight of the tire sidewall (which is now smaller).
If you go to 17" but get a larger overall tread diameter, then you might have problems with the tire rubbing on something as the suspension flexes.
