Default Front End Alignment

Hello,

I had an alignment done on my 97 Accord about 10K miles ago. Now getting ready for some new tires, and wondering how often alignments should be done.

The car does not pull to the left or right when you let go of the steering wheel, so just wondering if it worth getting done after I get new tires put on.

Also I know a lot of places offer 2 or 4 wheel alignments, but not sure if it is even needed for the back wheels on an Accord.

Any info or suggestions would be appreciated!

Are the tires wearing abnormally? If the wear is uniform and you are happy with the handling I wouldn’t do an alignment, as to how often, if you hit a pothole that could change your alignment. I believe the Honda dealer I worked at did alignments with each major maintenance. If the rear suspension is adjustable on your vehicle I would do a four wheel alignment when you have one done.

Chris,

The tire wear does not look bad, so I might pass on the alignment.

Just wondering if there is a set time or mileage that you should do an alignment, or if the car drives straight don't worry about it.

How good are your roads? Lots of potholes? How often to get an alignment really depends on that stuff. Maybe 40k miles? Maybe every time you buy new tires?

10k miles sounds like you probably don't need an alignment this soon. Unless you remember ever hitting a BIG pothole. Or another car.

It has been awhile but I think Honda’s major maintenance is around every 30,000. It is a good investment when you get new tires and they should check for any suspension component wearing. I don’t think anyone can give you an exact mileage to get it done. With my Accords the toe seems to be off before the tires wear out but I live in Michigan and we have bad winters.
