Default 2002 Accord EX Cruise Control Malfunction

While driving the other day, I engaged my cruise control as usual, but encountered a problem. When I press the set button, the indicator light illuminates as usual, but the cruise control doesn't activate. The accellerate button also has no effect, but the cancel button does turn off the indicator light.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here, and how to fix it?

I do a lot of highway driving, and not having cruise control sucks. All help is appreciated.

Thanks...

You may have a small leak in the vacuum lines that control the cruise control.

Can you give me more details? Where are these vaccuum lines located?

On the driver side of the engine bay there is a panel, wait, I have a picture!

The cruise control assembly is mounted to this plate. You can see one of the vacuum lines in the pictures. Follow them and make sure they are snugly connected on both ends or if they are brittle and need to be replaced.

Good point, LOL...which light comes on? The one on the cruise button or the one in the instrument cluster?
Have you checked the cable linkage to the cruise actuator?
Cable reel under the steering wheel is another possible,
Mis adjusted brake switch can cause problems also.

The light on the button and the dash indicator both work. The buttons work, and the brake peddle will cancel the dash light. Everything works as it should except for the actual cruise.

Grab your multimeter, watch out for SRS wires in that area. Here is a Link;

Default 2004 Steering Wheel Cruise Control Power Button broke

I recently realized that the cruise control power button on my 2004 accord steering wheel stopped working. I can tell its simply the button, it seems that it clicks on and off with each press. I can tinker with it and hold it a certain way and it will engage. The second I release pressure, it turns off.

Is there a write up in here on replacing this. I realize its right next to the airbag and all. I was even thinking I could upgrade to the lighted version. I am curious about how much these cost. Has anyone have any idea of what the dealership would charge if I decided to play for it that way?

I would love to see a write up, maybe I will do it if I go that route.

Thanks friends!

Default 2003 EX Accord Cruise Control Button

Same thing here - can push and hold cruise on/off button in and everything functions perfectly. Let go and it switches off. I bit the bullet and took screwdriver (phillips style) to two screws under the cruise switches. Pull it out, undo the cable and away you go. On the way to the dealer now for a new switch - hope it fixes it!!!
